Google has begun the rollout of Android P Beta 2 update which, among Adaptive battery and App Actions, also brings 157 new emojis such as a superhero, lama, hot/ cold face, etc. and some aesthetic changes to a few old ones. However, a notable change introduced by the latest update is gender-neutral emojis. The ‘family’ emoji now represents a gender-ambiguous pair of parents, while a ‘couple with heart’ emoji shows a pair of gender-neutral individuals....

Aadhaar card holders will now be able to review and download their ownAadhaarupdate history, thanks to a new feature launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). According to the agency, the Aadhaar history can be downloaded and provided to various authorities on-demand for availing various services. The feature is currently in beta, but the agency says that it users will still be able to make use of it by going over to the official site....

Xiaomi is launching yet another selfie-centric smartphone today at a launch event in India, possibly the Redmi Y2. The Redmi Y2 is expected to a rebranded version of Xiaomi Redmi S2, which waslaunched in Chinaearlier last month. The Chinese giant has been teasing the Redmi Y2’s capabilities on social media, talking of the AI capabilities of its 16MP selfie camera for the past few days. The device is confirmed to be an Amazon exclusive as well....

Interestingly, though, while WSJ interpreted ‘user-generated videos’ as candid clips uploaded by amateurs, TechCrunch is saying they will be on par with professionally-produced videos in terms of quality, as is seen on popular YouTube channels. The Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform is understood to be meeting with social media influencers, content creators and others to strike up partnerships for the launch. All of the videos will be in vertical orientation and 4K resolution, but users shouldn’t expect the production values to rival HBO orNetflix....

Alongside the launch of the selfie-centricRedmi Y2in India, Xiaomi has today also unveiled the global variant of its modernized MIUI 10 ROM on stage at the launch event. The Global MIUI 10 ROM will be rolled out to compatible Xiaomi devices in mid-June. Througha post on its official forums, OnePlus has announced that it has started rolling a new update to theOnePlus 6in China. The incoming software brings a bunch of new features to the device, including a battery percentage icon, a portrait mode for the front camera, and some gaming-related optimizations. As can be seen below, the changelog in Chinese, so it isn’t entirely clear what exactly the new update brings to the table, but Google Translate seems to think that the Portrait Mode can now also be applied when taking selfies with the timer....
