Google’s redesign for the ‘My Account’ settings section on Android was leaked during the testing phase, and themakeoverwith Material Design Theme is now live for all users. Besides surfacing various settings in your Google Account section, it also gives users a snapshot of their account activity. Google’s London-based AI subsidiary, DeepMind, has developed an algorithm that can render full 3D models of objects and scenes from regular 2D images. Called the Generative Query Network (GQN), the new algorithm can be used for a wide range of applications, including robotic vision, VR simulation, and more. All this, and much more was revealed yesterday when details about DeepMind’s research waspublished in the Science magazine. According to the report, the GQN can compose andrender an object or a scene from any angle, even if it’s only fed with a handful of 2D images....

Samsung has announced an upgradedSamsung Chromebook Plus (V2),which uses an Intel CPU instead of the ARM-based processor in the last-gen Plus mode. The overall design and build is quite similar to the predecessor, which means you get a sleek metallic body made out of Aluminum alloy, a 360-rotatable design and stylus support. However, the updated version comes with a spill-resistant keyboard with curved keycaps for an improved typing experience and also adds some new features to the stylus....

A report from Bloomberg this monthsuggestedSamsung’sGalaxy Note 9may be unveiled on August 9 in New York. And today, South Korea’s ETNews is not only corroborating the date but also says the Gear S4 is also arriving in August. While the publication doesn’t explicitly say whether the two launches will happen at the same event, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume so. ETNews curiously says the Gear S4 will be exclusive to China, although, it’s not immediately clear as to why that would be the case....

One of the greatest things about Android is that it is super customizable. Apart from offering customizability offers right in the AOSP code, there are other custom ROMs out there as well, such as LineageOS and MIUI, that take this to the next level. However, there are other Android skins, such as Samsung’s own Experience, which offers probably the lowest form of customization, and restricts users to pretty much how Samsung visualizes things....

Snapchathasannounceda new developer tool that would let third-party apps use Snapchat features such as stickers, Stories, lens filters,Bitmojiand more. The ‘Snap Kit’ platform would also allow developers to use Snapchat as an authentication tool that can be used instead of Facebook or Google to log into third-party apps and services. There’s no word, however, on whether the company will be using theOAuth open standardfor authenticating logins through its new platform....

Sony blocked cross-login and cross-play for Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch,which meant players could not carry over the progress, perks and other items from their PS4 game to the Switch. Naturally, players have been furious, and this shows, withSony’s market shares dropping by 2.8%. According to Google Finance, Sony’s stock ended June 11 at $50.50 and has since swooped down to a low of $49.18. The Nintendo Switch has been one of the best-selling consoles,having outshone its rival consoles in first-year sales....
