Google recently announced Android Messages for the web, that allows you to send text messages directly from a web browser. While the company has rolled out multiple chat applications, including Allo which seemingly supersedes the Hangouts app now, the search giant has made sure to keep at least one user-friendly alive from Hangouts. As reported by multiple users onReddit, theAndroid Messages for Web includes an easter egg from Hangouts: emoticon shortcuts which are known as ‘Kaomoji’....

While LG will be supplyingsomeof the OLED panels for this year’s iPhones,Samsung is still expected to retain the lions’ shareof the order from the Cupertino giant, largely because LG Display isn’t expected to be able to ramp up its capacity in time to match demand. The partnership between Apple and LG, however, seems to have been in the works for a very long time, given that sources from within the supply chain had earlier also suggested that South Korean firm will be one of the key suppliers of iPhone display panels this year....

Cashify has raised $12 million in its latest round of funding led by three Chinese companies – investment funds CDH Investments and MorningSide Group, and e-commerce startup, AiHuiShou. At least two of Cashify’s existing investors, Bessemer Ventures and Shunwei, also took part in the Series C round. The latest capital infusion means that the Indian ‘re-commerce’ startup has now raised $19 million overall. Cashify is looking to use a part of the funding to expand its offline kiosk model from the current five in Delhi-NCR to 50 by the end of the year....

Ever since Facebook (and it’s suite of apps) started ripping off Snapchat, the company has steadily been adding a stories feature to its apps in one way or another. There’s Facebook Stories, there are Instagram Stories, and there are stories in Facebook Messenger as well (which are different from Facebook Stories, by the way). While Instagram Stories have been a huge hit, and Facebook Stories have also gained traction over time, I, for one, have not seen people using Messenger’s “My Day” feature… like, at all....

In addition to makingpolitical ads more transparent, and lettingusers know howads work, Facebook has now announced the new steps being taken by the company that will give users detailed information about the ads they see on the website and apps. The first change announced by Facebook is that users will now be able to see all the ads run by a business or a political organization on a Page, across all Facebook-owned platforms such as Instagram, Messenger as well as partner networks....

The most recent report comes fromKotaku, which saysGoogle is continuing working on its own gaming platform with a three-pronged approach– some sort of streaming platform, some sort of hardware, and bringing game developers under the Google umbrella, through aggressive recruiting or possibly even acquisitions. As per the report,Google representatives apparently met with several major video game companies at GDC in March to gauge interest in Yeti. Furthermore, Google also took meetings at E3 in Los Angeles this month....

Earlier this month, Microsoft acquired GitHub for around $7.5 billion, a deal that sent waves throughout the global developer community who collaborated on the open source code repository. However, it now appears that Microsoft was not the only party interested in buying Github, as Google was also among the suitors but eventually lost out to the Windows creator. At Fortune’s annual“Most Powerful Women Evening”event, the chief of Google’s cloud business, Diane Greene, expressed that‘she wouldn’t have minded buying’Github....

With so many brands in the smartphone market offering almost similar priced and specced smartphones, the competition between them is pretty high. As such, one of the deciding factors is the frequency of software updates. While Google reigns at the top (obviously), it is very well followed by the likes of Nokia andOnePlus, who have been delivering their respective software updates quite swiftly. On the other hand, Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Honor and Lenovo have struggled to provide their customers with timely software updates....

Huawei debuted a GPU Turbo Mode, a graphics processing acceleration technology, on the recently announcedHonor Playsmartphone, and also promised that it will soon be available on other Huawei and Honor smartphones. Following the GPU Turbo Mode’s arrival on the Honor 10 with an EMUI beta update last week, Huawei has now revealed the complete list of all devices that are set to the receive the feature, alongside the rollout schedule and region wise availability....

Samsung has brought back its ‘Good Lock’ customization app from dead, and the app brings a ton of customization options to compatible Galaxy smartphones from the company. As of now, according to the company’s official press-release about the app, Good Lock is compatible with Galaxy-branded smartphones running Android 8.0 Oreo and above and is available from the ‘Galaxy Apps’ store in select few countries. Well, we got our hands on the Good Lock app and played with it on our Galaxy S9+....

And now it’s finally here; you can add a song of your choice toStoriesin the form of music stickers. You will now see a new music sticker in the stickers section while adding one to a photo or video in Stories. In order to add a song to your Stories, just tap on the music sticker and it will open a huge library of tracks from where you can select the perfect song to go with your Stories....
