Google has partnered Chinese technology company Lenovo to manufacture a new category of devices called “Smart Displays” which are interactive screens for smart home devices with Google Assistant. “With the Google Assistant built in, the Lenovo Smart Display brings you the best of Google services, including Maps, YouTube, Calendar, Duo and Photos, in a visual and helpful way,”Chris Turkstra, Product Management Director, Google Assistant wrote in a blog post on Thursday....

LinkedInon Thursdayannouncedthat it is adding support for voice messaging to its platform. The feature will enable users to send spoken messages to each other, much like what’soffered by many chat appsand messaging services. According to LinkedIn, the feature will make it easier for people to send messages while on the go, while recipients will be able to“listen and respond when they have a free moment”. Slackhas acquired the IP behind Atlassian’s HipChat and Stride productivity suites. In astatementreleased on Thursday, Slack said that both the services will be shut down by the end of the year, with the affected users being migrated over to Slack. While HipChat was the market leader before Slack’s meteoric rise, Stride was a fledgling new service launched last year as a replacement for HipChat. Welcoming the government’s decision toslash Goods and Services Tax (GST) rateson over 50 items including refrigerators, washing machines and small televisions, several consumer electronics companies, including Samsung, have promised that they will pass on the full benefits to the consumers. The new prices will be applicable from July 27, Samsung India said in statement. “Samsung is a consumer-centric company.
