WhatsApp already offers a ton of features to its 1.5 billion monthly active users, but the ability to communicate with businesses and brands has opened new avenues for the messaging giant. One of these services is offered by Indian Railways in partnership with well-known online ticketing platform MakeMyTrip, which enables you tocheck the PNR status of booked ticketsand thelive running statusof trains using a simple text message. This saves users the trouble of logging into the IRCTC website and jumping through menus to view their ticket status....

It was recently reported that UIDAI’shelpline numberis being saved by default in most Android device’s contact lists, and there was no explanation from either UIDAI, smartphone makers or Google as to why this is happening. Well, we finally have an answer, as it appears that saving the helpline number by default on Android devices was a mistake because Googleinadvertentlyloaded the number in the ‘setup wizard’ of Android devices. Google has revealed that the UIDAI helpline number can be deleted manually from the contact list, however, the company has assured that it is working‘towards fixing this in an upcoming release of Setup wizard which will be made available to OEMs over the next few weeks’....

Earlier in January, we heard rumors that Apple is gearing up to launch a device called theiPhone X Plus, that would feature a 6.5-inch display and 4GB of RAM. Moreover, the device was tipped to pack a dual-cell 3,300-3,400 mAh battery, which will be roughly 25 percent larger than the 2nd-gen iPhone X, and might have the samefootprintas the iPhone 8 Plus. We now have some more information about the iPhone X Plus, which has been spotted in the latest iOS 12 beta’s PassKitUIFoundation by iOS developer, Guilherme Rambo....

To provide relief to a choked Bengaluru busting at seams, Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday told investors to set up their manufacturing units or services centres in tier-2 cities across the southern state. “I appeal to investors to locate their industries or services centres beyond Bengaluru in tier-2 cities like Mysuru, Hassan, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi and Kalaburagi for uniform development and job creation,” Kumaraswamy told about 100 chief executives of the IT and biotech industry here....

Lenovo has expanded its portfolio of gaming laptops by unveiling the newLegion 7000P, which features a slightly refined design over its predecessor but brings a host of noticeable upgrades in the hardware department. The device features a tri bezel-less design with a 144Hz display, 8th Gen Intel processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics. The Legion 7000P features an impressive15.6-inch Full HDIPS display with a144Hz refresh rateand 7ms response time, and is capable of reproducing 72% of the NTSC color gamut with a peak brightness of 300 nits....

The company announced theMi Notebook Pro GTXmodel at the event and we spent some time with the laptop on the show floor. First thing to notice is it’s pretty much the same as the Mi Notebook Pro from last year, and it still very much emulates the look and feel of aMacBook Pro. There’s no branding anywhere except on the bottom bezel of the screen, which is gigantic. The display looks pretty much the same (we couldn’t run any screen tests on the unit on the show floor) so it can get quite bright and while I couldn’t use it outside, it does look like sunlight visibility shouldn’t be a problem, if it’s the same display as the last-gen model....

For the past week, Xiaomi had been teasing the release of a new product in partnership with Intel at China Joy and we speculated the company to refresh its first-ever gaming laptop,the Mi Gaming laptop,that was launched earlier this year. Well, the Chinese giant has given us just that by updating the internals on theoriginal Mi Gaming laptopwith the addition of the latest 8th-gen six-core Intel Core i7 chipsets. AMD is challenging Intel with its new generation ofRyzenCPUs and is also targeting the gaming, design and research community with the monstrous 32-coreThreadripper 2, which will be available later this year. In a bid to gain more edge over its archrival Intel in the gaming segment, AMD as has announced a semi-custom Zen-and-Vega SoC for gaming PCs and consoles. In an official blogpost, AMD revealed that the semi-custom gaming-centric SoC combines the power of AMD’s Ryzen CPU and the Radeon Vega GPU to provide the ultimate gaming experience....

Apple became the first publicly traded US corporation to reach a market capitalization of $1 trillion, beating other tech giants, such as Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft, in the race to reach the milestone. Apple, maker of the iPhone, iPad and other devices, posted net income of $11.5 billion on quarterly revenue of $53.3 billion, up 17 percent from the same period last year. The tech giant, which has been aggressively buying back stock to reduce its share count and return money to shareholders, generated operating cash flow of $14....

Apple has finally become the world’s first publicly traded US company to have achieved amarket cap of $1 trillion. Let that sink in. We had all been keeping a close eye on Apple’s share prices over the past couple of days, knowing that the Cupertino giant was close to achieving this major milestone.
