India recognises the enormous potential of Big Data and analytics in enriching the economy and the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) is mulling over the pros and cons of setting up data exchanges in the country, a senior official said here on Monday. “There is a need of data exchanges and the IT Ministry is at it,”Gopalakrishnan S, Joint Secretary at the IT Ministry said while addressing the audience at the “Big Data and Analytics Conclave” organised by industry chamber FICCI....

The chipmaker is still going to use the existing 14nm process, as compared to its 10nm process chipsets, whose launch is delayed until next year. India will soon launch a dedicated space and science television channel to make their benefits reach people across the country, a top official said on Sunday. “Within the next three to four months, there will be a television channel launched to reach even the rural parts of India on how space programme can benefit the common man,”Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K. Sivan told reporters here. Researchers have, for the first time, produced fibres with embedded electronics that are so flexible they can be woven into soft washable fabrics and made into wearable clothing. Embedding high-speed optoelectronic semiconductor devices, including light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and diode photodetectors, into washable fabrics also makes it possible to produce clothing that communicates optically with other devices. This discovery, described in the journal Nature, could unleash a new ‘Moore’s Law’ for fibres, in other words, a rapid progression in which the capabilities of fibres would grow rapidly and exponentially over time, said researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston....
